1. Helping teens learn, plan, and shape the future of AI
Source: OpenAI Blog | 2026-10-07
Kabir’s take: OpenAI is quietly embedding itself into how teenagers plan their entire academic future โ not just answering homework questions anymore, but shaping college decisions. If you have teens at home, don’t leave this to school to explain โ sit with them once and see what the tool is actually suggesting, because that’s what’s shaping their choices.
College Planner is coming to ChatGPT for Teens to help students manage college applications, alongside new flashcards, quizzes, and a teen AI council.
2. OpenAI says teen ChatGPT use limited but research finds it an ‘unacceptable risk’
Source: BBC Technology | 2026-10-07
Kabir’s take: What’s noteworthy is the pattern, not the headline โ a company’s own safety promises keep not holding up once independent researchers actually test them, and that’s true of more AI tools than just this one. If kids or employees in your life use AI chatbots, don’t take the “safety guardrails” marketing at face value โ check in on real conversations now and then, the way you’d check on any new habit.
The research found that important guardrails for teens using ChatGPT often failed.
3. Radisson Hotel Group brings hotel discovery into ChatGPT
Source: OpenAI Blog | 2026-10-07
Kabir’s take: Travel planning is quietly becoming one more thing we just ask AI to handle end-to-end, the same way we got used to asking Google twenty years ago. Next time you plan a trip, try asking ChatGPT to shortlist hotels first โ it’s a genuine time-saver, not a gimmick.
Radisson partnered with Accenture to build a ChatGPT plugin using OpenAI technology, helping travelers find, compare, and book hotels while planning their trips.

1. Soon, FD details will be part of your CAS statement; Here’s how it helps you
Source: Economic Times โ Personal Finance | 2026-10-07
Kabir’s take: Most people don’t realize their CAS statement is incomplete today โ fixed deposits sit outside it, which makes it easy to lose track of money parked across different banks. Once this rolls out, actually pull your CAS statement and read it end to end โ it’s the simplest way to see your whole financial picture in one place.
Soon you will get to see your fixed deposit (FD) details in CAS statements. CAS stands for consolidated account statements and it is usually sent by NSDL, CDSL, Karvy or CAMS. This CAS statement at present shows your demat and non-demat holdings including mutual funds, bonds, listed shares.
2. Children Doomed To Follow In Their Parents’ Professional Footsteps
Source: Financial Samurai | 2026-10-05
Kabir’s take: This is a quiet admission that even FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) advocates worry about modeling the wrong lesson for their kids โ that not working looks normal. If you’re financially comfortable, think honestly about what your kids actually see you doing with your time, not just what you tell them about money.
One of the reasons I accepted Portfolio Penguin’s book deal in 2019 was to demonstrate to my kids the importance of work. Not working sets a bad example if you are a FIRE parent.
Why I Curate This

Every week I read across AI, money, and life so you don’t have to.
These are the pieces that made me think, taught me something, or changed how I see something.
